Cut off the guy’s ear!

Capriciousness is the hallmark of Simon Peter’s behaviour. One moment called ‘blessed’ by Jesus Himself and the next, denounced as ‘Satan’. Pretty sharp sinusoidal pattern. Here we find him wielding a sword and cutting of Malchus’s right ear at the time of Jesus’s arrest, only to be rebuked by the Lord again.

A total misunderstanding of the Master’s mission on earth. Then again, if he wanted to be perceived at all as heroic, Peter could have picked a different target than a lowly servant!

Get your act together Peter!
