The Ark was brought in, because the elders of Israel figured its absence was the reason the Philistines defeated them the first time. However, yet again Israel was defeated. They had the Ark of the Covenant but God was not in their midst. You cannot appease God with mere ceremonial rectitude or upright maces!

Bishop in Madras sentenced to 90 days imprisonment for contempt of court
The Bishop in Madras has been sentenced to three months imprisonment for contempt of court.
The Swarajya magazine website reports a two-judge panel of the Madras High Court fined the Bishop in Madras, the Rt Rev. J. George Stephen, the Dean of St George’s Cathedral, the Very Rev. S. Immanuel Devakadatcham, and a retired presbyter, the Rev. Y.L. Babu Rao Rs1,500 and sentenced them to three months imprisonmentthe Rt. Rev. The Madras High Court has sentenced the Church of South India Madras Diocese Bishop and two pastors to three months simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,500 each for contempt of court.
The jailing of Bishop Stephen comes amidst a flurry of court acivity around financial misconduct by the bishops and senior leaders of the Church of South India, including a High Court ruling directing federal authorities to redouble their efforts at investigating corruption among the church’s bishops.

KOCHI: Church of South India (CSI) Southern Kerala Diocese Bishop Dharmaraj Rasalam was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at its office in Kochi on Wednesday in a money laundering case. The interrogation, which began at 11 am, continued till 9pm. The bishop will be questioned again in the coming days. The national agency had raided the offices and residences of Bishop Rasalam and Church officials including the director of Dr Somervell Memorial Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram.
ED suspects money was laundered after capitation fees were illegally collected for MBBS and MD admissions at the Church-owned medical college in Thiruvananthapuram.
ED case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act was a follow-up of the FIR registered by the Crime Branch related to financial misappropriation in connection with the collection of capitation fees. Even though the Crime Branch gave the bishop a clean-chit in the case, the Kerala High Court ordered the investigation agency to conduct a detailed probe.
On Tuesday, the Bureau of Immigration at Thiruvananthapuram airport had prevented Bishop Rasalam from travelling to the UK to attend an international conference. ED officers reached the airport later and asked the bishop to appear for questioning.
