Misc. 42: The Ostrich-like Attitude of American Evangelicals

Whatever you thought of them so long, it is time to stand up and salute them. Their flint like fortitude and their unwavering devotion have been nothing short of extraordinary. We will not likely come across another band of people with such strong blinkers that shut out anything that does not serve their goal in life. Which is to worship Trump.

Oh, they are a fair-minded lot alright. With a little push, they will condemn the violence in Washington D.C., but it is not for them to sit in judgment of who is responsible. All the media in the world can scream their heads off that the President incited the riots by his “fighting” speech and his trusted lieutenant Rudy Giuliani (now famous for insufferable utterances from more than one organ) whipped up the tempo, but our subject lot will only remember that the President called for peace and asked his devoted warriors to go home, even while affirming his love for them.

The President, bless his soul, never said “storm the Capitol”, never asked them to ransack the place, carry away podiums and dishonour that wretched Nancy Pelosi’s desk. No Sir, he merely invited them to protest. Protest what? The “stolen” and “fraudulent” election that deprived the landslide winner of a second glorious term that would Make America Great Again. That most every state body stood by the fairness of the election process and sixty odd cases( filed at the behest of the disgruntled loser at a cost of a couple of hundred million dollars of the taxpayers money) were thrown out of the window as unsustainable, were minor irritants to be ignored in the grand march “come what may”.

What nice people! They gently retreated at their generals’s command, without causing the kind of mayhem witnessed at the #BLM protests months ago. A peaceful protest worthy of emulation by the world’s democracies. Who else can  inspire – mind you, not orchestrate (we need to be careful with words) –  such a superb protest model,  than the greatest President that America has ever seen. Such a shame that Mike Pence failed to come through.

Though he calls himself a Christian first, now we know that he is not. Salvation, sirs, is a two step process: 1. cleansing by the blood of Christ 2. demonstration of undying loyalty to Donald Trump. The Bible quite clearly says that ” he who endures to the end shall be saved “(Matthew 24:13). It is a pity that a man who proved malleable to every murmur from the Oval Office  for four long years, failed to go the distance, citing the call of the constitution. Poor fellow, he will perish unsung for failing to display courage when it mattered most. He let down the Commander-in-Chief.

Not so the evangelicals. With their head deeply buried in sand, they are unshakable.

Praise be to God and all glory to Trump!
