Here’s the final lot of Daily Readings starting Tuesday (16 June 2020); it should carry us till the end of the month, 30 June 2020. That is Day 366 marking the end of a Leap Year which began for these readings on 1 July 2019, Day 1. Praise be to God for His faithfulness!
In the same passage in chapter 2 of his book that includes the memorable words “the just shall live by faith” – the corner stone of the Protestant Reformation movement launched by Martin Luther – the prophet Habakkuk also talks about the Lord telling him to “write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it”.
That original vision is somewhat “woe”ful, but I was inspired by the idea of the 21st century human being catching a biblical truth while running feverishly, frenetically in the fast lane of life. I also thought I should keep it simple, with one main grain of truth in focus, rather than populate the plate with multifarious delicacies.
Since time is at a premium for today’s jet-setter, I further endeavoured to keep it short, typically readable in half a minute! The Bible references are hyper-texted for the convenience of those who do not have the time to turn the pages.
These Daily Readings are in addition to the Bible passage commentary Pages that appear from time to time in my blog-site Judahs Jottings. The latest in this section still remains the Twenty seventh Page entitled ‘The meteoric rise of David’s reich! The earlier Pages are also there – including my personal testimony that deals with a near death experience – in the Twenty fifth Page , should you be interested. You will also find in the blog Kabul கதைகள் (Diary) (13 of them), a collection of racy despatches based on first-hand experience in post-conflict Afghanistan. Then there is a miscellany section labelled ‘This, that and the other’. The latest additions there deal with the vexed issue of providing free power to the farmers (Misc. 34: Free Power to farmers) and ‘telephone blues’of yester years (Misc. 35: G…walior – 1 2 3)!
Some recent postings in this section: an important denunciation of false biblical teaching Misc. 32: The gods who failed! and a piece on Corona (oh, it’s so pervasive) Misc. 33: Corona comes a cropper!
The literary minded may also gravitate towards the digitized versions of Vedanayagam Sastriar’s works parked therein. As of now there are four of them: ஜெபமாலை , ஞானப் பத கீர்த்தனைகள் , பேரின்பக் காதல் , and கடைசி நியாயத்தீர்ப்பு with DV more to be added.
